Nato strike funerals of 24 men offered

PESHAWAR: The funeral prayers of 24 Pak army soldiers and officers martyred in NATO’s airstrike in Mohamand Agency were offered here Sunday at Peshawar garrison, SAMAA reports.
Army chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Amir Haider Khan Hoti, KP Governor Barrister Masood Kaosar and hundreds of army jawans attended the funerals.
The dead bodies of the soldiers were dispatched to their respective native towns.
Earlier today, the Chief of Army Staff visited CMH Peshawar and enquired after health of the army men injured in Friday’s aggression by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization troops.
On the night of 25/26 November NATO helicopters and fighter aircraft carried out unprovoked firing on two Pakistani Army border posts in Mohmand Agency as a result of which 24 troops embraced shahadat and 13 were injured.
Pakistani troops effectively responded immediately in self defence to NATO / ISAF’s aggression with all available weapons, ISPR said.
COAS has strongly condemned NATO / ISAF’s blatant and unacceptable act resulting in loss of precious lives of Pakistani soldiers, directing the army that all necessary steps be under taken for an effective response.
